So lockdown is about to come to an end and we can begin to return to experiencing a sense of freedom and autonomy once more. But that’s not how many people feel as we enter a revised tier system that sees many parts of the country facing more restrictions than before lockdown.
The fact of the matter is that many people were looking forward to lockdown ending and whilst they were not expecting things to return to normal overnight they were at least hoping for a sense of relief.
But for many that relief simply didn’t arrive. What they now experience instead are a range of different emotions including disappointment, anger and above all a feeling of being completely and utterly fed up.
It will be very interesting to observe the levels of compliance as many people find that they have exceeded the limits of their tolerance.
The negative impacts of the lockdown are vast and wide reaching. The number of redundancies have increased at the fastest rate since the financial crisis of 2009. Not to mention a significant increase in the number of people experiencing mental health problems. Depression, anxiety, suicide and domestic violence have all seen a substantial increase over this period.
